About This Project
This Heritage Lottery funded scheme comprised the restoration of the listed building and recreation of the historic gardens. Our works were carried out in three phases. Phase 1 comprised the recreation of the former moat and tree planting and Phase 2 the installation of ducting and drainage works. Phase 3 comprised hard works and soft landscaping as follows:
- New external drainage providing a network for surface water and building waste water
- Laying of Yorkstone paving with brick trim
- Installation of Carved St Bees edgings
- Laying of Resin surfaced bitmac footpaths and access roads and Planting of formal gardens and herb gardens.
In 2012 Ordsall Hall Museum won the prestigious North West RICS Award for Building Conservation and the Museum and Heritage Award in the Restoration category.
